Released in September, 1964 this flexi disc was given away free with the purchase of a Beatles L.P. at Kelly's Record Store locations in Vancouver. The audio was taped by a reporter at the press conference held near the Vancouver Airport. The disc is approximately six minutes in length and consists of audio from the press conference plus a couple of instrumental clips.
The disc was released approximately two weeks after the Beatles' Vancouver appearance and was housed in a red Kelly's envelope/sleeve.
Shown with the flexi is a pair of tickets for the concert attended by 20,000 fans and lasting only 20 minutes. The concert was supposed to start at 8:00 PM but did not start until 9:23 PM. The Beatles opened with "Twist and Shout" which whipped the audience into a frenzy and the near riot was on.
The Beatles concert at Empire Stadium, Vancouver is memorable for the near riot that occured and for being held in an open air sport stadium, which at the time was a groundbreaking concept for rock concerts.
The concert and the press conference along with radio station banter has appeared on several bootlegs, in addition, the concert has been re-broadcast on local Vancouver radio numerous times.
